The South Queensland Zone consists of six centres. They are:
- Brisbane (BHA & BWHA)
- Gold Coast
- Ipswich
- Toowoomba
- Tweed Border
- Warwick
Brisbane has two Associations, the Brisbane Hockey Association (BHA) which is responsible for male competitions and the Brisbane Women's Hockey Association (BWHA) which is responsible for female competitions, within the Greater Brisbane region. Each of the other centres has a single Hockey Association responsible for the competitions of both genders.
At the Zone level the competitions are divided into male and female competitions. These are known as the Coulter Shield (male) and Southern Cross (female) competitions. Each of these are then further divided into age groups, e.g. Under 11, Under 13, etc. Finally, each of these age group competitions is then hosted by the centres on a rotational basis.
In recent years, the Sunshine Coast Hockey Association (Wide Bay Zone) has also been invited to enter teams in South Queensland Zone competitions.
The Annual General Meeting of the South Queensland Zone is generally held in late October or November. The Minutes of the 2008 Zone / Coulter Shield AGM can be viewed in the News area of this site. Be aware that the dates contained within these documents may have since been revised.
