To Stay with current format but play longer games 20-25 minute half’s if possible and look at draw per centre requirements’ for Vets, 18, 15, & 13.

Concern over numbers attending Meeting:
President spoke on the concerns of the meeting numbers dwindling suggestion was made to write to the President of the Southern Cross and ask if it could be possible to hold both meeting at the same venue each season to eliminate association having to send delegates to meetings at different times on different dates and then combine the meetings for the joint decisions such as a clash of Coulter Shield and Southern Cross dates and any other issues that need to be raised that concern each group the meetings could start at the same time. All present agreed that it was a good idea because they could all travel in 1 vehicle.
Recommendation: Write to Jenny Herron President of Southern Cross with suggestion for her to table at the next meeting of the Southern Cross for Consideration.
Toowoomaba: Pam raised that Garry Richards from Toowoomba had applied for a position on the Board and was seeking the support of the zone to vote for Garry.
General Business:
John spoke on the possibility that ion future years to come the push is on with in Hockey circles to have a centre with 2 artificial surfaces host the Under 18 state titles.
Also spoke on the issue of the Under 18 draw and the way it was dealt with this year was and could still be a problem for a number of Associations was not in favour of the way it was divided into divisions with no cross over in division 1.
Report from Garry West Bail Hockey Queensland:
Proposal Future Structure for AHL The first 4 weeks of the 2009 season will be played in all regional association. The AHL teams will be announced in November with a new sponsor for the 2008 season OHL Insurance and in the future the players will be assisting the insurance company by attend dinners and coaching clinic in way of promotion of the insurance sponsorship.
Brief Discussion about the HQ meeting coming up in November Budget not much difference only it is becoming harder to find funds to send teams away. In the 2008 season HQ will be sending out updates in forming associations of the cost per player for those player selected for a National championship so as to limit the burden on parents by allowing them to know the cost of state teams trips prior to the state championships.
Recently 2 teams played away international games and both played very well coming home victorious. 2 umpires also attended the games and returned with international badges Adam Kerns & Aleta Metcalf.
Reminder of the awards Night on the 22nd of November.
The international games being played in the regional areas in the coming weeks.
HQ is now linked to the mater Children’s as a charity that HQ now supports and will be having a Walk-a-thon in the future to help support the charity.
Hook into Hockey will become a National program with HA taking over the administration of the program with Kookaburra becoming the sponsor of the stick ball hat and shinny’s in the 2008 season.
Warwick Question: Could you please explain the situation of the Leagues Club. Garry: The Club has now been taken over by a group of people calling them self’s HQ on Lytton they will be providing a service to by way of a Licensed café and bar facility the main business is a consultancy for training, with Hours of trade being 11.00 to 7.00 pm daily the gaming machines will be removed due to lack of patronage in the area.
Tweed Border Question
Premier League and Open Competition why were these not held on Separate weekends like May Day and June long weekends. Garry Response was due to lead time in the supply of uniforms and other factors for travel arrangements also the fact that some players may not return the order forms early enough and player drop outs.
Sports Injury Cover Garry informed us that the current liability insurance that HQ has covers Players Administration Office bearers and Volunteers form the association to all affiliated clubs with each Association.
Garry advised that the U 18 girls state titles would be held in the 1st weekend of the September school holidays 20th 21st &22nd of September 2008.
Warwick Question: Had any new association put down any new surfaces in the past year and was there any comments that could be passed on to Warwick for consideration before they went to tender for replacement of theirs. Garry advised them that no not really any that could help suggested that they keep in touch with John Cushing and contact Redcliffe about the surface that they had just laid.
Garry advised that all bar 3 associations had employed an RCD or RCO and that the last was Tweed Border which was good for Hockey and the Association involved.
John Cushing asked what power the Zone had a AGM and meetings Garry advise that the zones had no power and that any issue would better raised by and Association. We could discuss it as a zone but we had no rights.
